    1. I guess it was a lack of 'professionalism' both in terms of command and stomach for the fight. Harold's army was probably lower quality in terms of experience having lost so many up north. As he was supposedly advised to await more reinforcements before trying to take on William it was obviously seen as a risky move by some at the time.
