Gringos 40's Gendarmes de Elite in 28mm

Hi,

These 28mm Gringos 40's Gendarmes de Elite are hot off the painting table. They were a lot of fun to paint up as the sculpts are very finely detailed with bags of character with horses sharing this characteristic with the troopers. I have to say that I've never painted any Gringos Miniatures up before and I am very impressed with the overall quality. They are cast in nice hard white metal too and they require next to no cleaning up which is always a bonus. I would certainly recommend these mini's to anyone interested in the 'period' (that word again!).

I think I'll let the pictures do the talking from now on:

  2. Evening Darrell,
I must pick your brains about how you paint Grey horses, it is very effective.

    1. It's not as hard as it appears Robbie- it really isn't. Come through to the club one night and I'll show you with a pen and paper!

Seriously, it's not hard. But I think it is effective :>)

    1. Yeah, I think I will do. It seems to be popular.

To be honest, it's really not all that hard to do Michael and gives brilliant results.

  4. Afternoon Darrell,
I know what your saying, but over the years Ive tried several techniques and none satisfy what Im trying to achieve. I particularly like the effect youve achieved. Plus the horses are very well sculptures so would be a joy to paint.
    Well done, Robbie.

    1. Yeah, the quality of the sculpts helps a lot. I find that the one's E-bob used to sell as dollies and the Mark Sims sculpted Foundry ones are the best for this technique.

Equally, Front =Rank and Gringos- who i'm now a big fan of (don't know who sculpted them though..... Ged?

Anyway, pop to the club, let me know and I'll bring some a primed horse and some greys and show you. It won't take long at all Robbie.

      Darrell.
