    1. Thanks Bartek. I'm going to start on some Sassanids soon but I have a few more Byzantine units I need to add first.

    3. Yeah, from the beginning the idea was to have enough to do both sides, both the Eastern Romans and Sassanians for both Dara 530AD Solachon 586AD. So, I've still got more Byzantines to do and the Sassanids to start!! LOL

  4. As ever these are fabulous - I am very envious of your painting.
I would love to see them out of the light box and deployed on some good terrain.
Can't wait to see the Sassanids.

    1. Thanks and me too Rob. Unfortunately I'm one of the unlucky ones that can't risk going to the club as of yet so getting the army arrayed properly is something for the future.

I do have a post where I arrayed the units as best as I could but accidentally knocked the exposure button on the camera without realising.

The post is here is you're interested- most of the units arrayed:

  6. These are fantastic, and there's about a dozen ideas I plan to steal ;) May I ask about base sizes for your different units?

    1. Thank you Firemonkeyboy.

The bases are all 40mm wide for infantry and 50mm wide for cavalry except for the skirmishing cav. that are 100mm wide. The depth varies. Normally I would go for a 40mm depth for infantry and a 50mm depth for cavalry.

The Cavalry are all either 100mm (skirmish) by 50mm or 50mm x 50mm.

The infantry are either a 40mm frontage and either 50mm or 60mm deep to instead of my usual 40mm depth. This was done accomodate the Aventine infantry models in the composition that I wanted. You could easily just to the 40mm depth but you would lose the interaction between the various infantry models.

      Hope that helps?
